Join us for a one-hour informative session that offers an overview of the profession and specific details for the course. Click here to sign up for an Information Session:Phlebotomy is the process of collecting blood samples for quality laboratory testing. Those who acquire these skills have a variety of career opportunities in healthcare settings. Our program includes 52 hours of quality classroom instruction and hands-on practice in phlebotomy and a 120 hour clinical externship. Participants who complete our program and meet the course requirements will be eligible to take a national certification exam through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). Exam fee is $135 (this is a separate cost). Visit: www.ascp.org for more information.Clinical Experience: Our program does offer a clinical rotation which is a vitally important component. Clinical assignments will be made with each participant during class. Clinical will generally be 40 hours a week for a three-week block. Clinical time preferences may be requested but will not be guaranteed. The clinical schedule will generally be Monday - Friday during dayshift hours.Requirements for Acceptance:(Acceptance letter will include the due dates for these forms)-You must attend an information session-Copy of a high school diploma or GED-Must have physical within the last 6 months -Must test negative for a 2-step tuberculosis test -Copy of your health insurance card (or write a note claiming personal responsibility) - Must be able to read and write, possess the needed manual dexterityto perform phlebotomy, and be able to lift up to 20 lbs. - Certified Background Check and finger printing Program Dates:August 9-September 13, 2013 Wednesdays: 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Fridays: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.Clinical Rotations will be announced at the Information Session.Instructor: Nancy Kovacs Location: Room 2630 - 2nd Floor Mercy College Program Cost:$1995.00** ($500 non-refundable deposit due at the time of registration) balance will need to be paid in full before the beginning of class.
