In this intermediate woodworking workshop, students will use band saw box construction to explore direct methods of work. This construction is versatile and quick, allowing for an in-depth exploration of design decisions. The workshop will focus on basic reductive techniques to establish form and the negative space that defines the literal or metaphoric “box-ness” of our object. Instruction will cover surface considerations such as texturing and patterning techniques as well as color. All tools and supplies included in lab fee. Students should wear closed-toe shoes.
