Union Grades 4-6

The Union Elementary Summer School is a 4-week morning summer school program, from June 18 through July 13, with a diverse selection of classes from which to choose. The program is offered in collaboration with Union School District administration and teachers. The base fee for the four week program is $429. Participants must select one class in each of the four periods. Do not enroll in the same "name" class more than once. (For example you may not enroll in "Kitchen Chemistry" in both the first period and the third period.)
No class or camp on Wednesday, July 4th.
Note: Enrichment Summer School - courses incorporate the following GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) teaching strategies: problem solving, creative thinking, cooperative learning, and critical thinking.
Some classes require an additional $16 material fee at time of registration. This additional fee is shown in the column to the right in the tables below. Material fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Please Note: The Grades 4-5 program is for students entering 4th or 5th grade in the 2012-13 school year.
Afternoon Camp: Have fun with friends at our afternoon camp! Camps for students entering grades 4-5 will be located at the summer school site. Camp features: swimming (when available), cookouts, special field trips by bus, and visits from special guests. Weekly field trips may include Golfland, Movies, Laser Quest and Nickel City. Each week will feature arts and crafts, cooking, group activities, games, creative dramatics, and more! Fees cover daily snack, cookout lunch once a week, bus and admission fees for field trip and swimming (if available). A bag lunch should be brought each day unless weekly activity sheet states otherwise. No camp on Wednesday, July 4th.
Before School Care: This program offers children an opportunity to socialize and participate in open-ended activities while making new friends within a supervised environment. It allows parents to beat the traffic and drop their children off early in a safe location for summer school.
Summer School and Camp Rules: No visiting friends allowed. Absences are to be reported to the school and camp, by telephone, on a daily basis. Note for leaving early for an appointment is to be turned into the school secretary before the morning appointment. For the safety of all, skateboards are NOT permitted at summer school or camp. If a child has a discipline problem, the principals may drop him/her from the class or camp without a refund. The summer school and recreation staffs are not responsible for students left on campus after 12:15 PM, unless they are enrolled in afternoon camp. The San Jose Police will be called to pick up the child if they have not been picked up by 12:25 PM.

There is a $25 non-refundable cancellation fee on Summer School and Afternoon Camp. Cancellations are accepted up to one week prior to the start of Summer School and/or Afternoon Camp.
CHANGES: A $10 charge will be added to each transfer for Summer School classes.
