Got a traffic ticket? Need to reduce the points on your license? Simply complete this course, approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, to remove up to four points from your license. Completion of this New York DMV-approved Point and Insurance Reduction Program (also known as PIRP and defensive driving) provides a 10% reduction, for 3 years, of the motorist's liability, no-fault and collision insurance premiums. Your car insurance discount is awarded on your current policy. You do not have to change your insurer or insurance agent. To qualify, you must have received the points within 18 months of course completion.
Upon course completion, students are eligible for a 10% insurance reduction and up to 4 points off their license. The proper paperwork must be filed with the American Safety Council to remove points from a person's license. More information on follow-up paperwork will be discussed in class. Students can check on their point reduction after course completion by getting an abstract of their license at the DMV.
