Got big ideas?  Anything goes when you’re an inventor! Using recyclables, paint, wood, and a lot of imagination, we’ll build our own inventions, and maybe discover the next Thomas Edison or Bill Gates among our campers!

Week 03: (CIT) Young Architects July 8-12, 2013
Grade Range: 7 - 10
Buildings tell us a lot about different cultures and environments. Let’s explore tipis, igloos, yurts, skyscrapers, bridges and more. We’ll build our own buildings with cardboard and recyclables, and we’ll sing songs and act out stories about buildings, cities and some of the architectural marvels of the world.

Week 04: (CIT) Beatle Mania! (Tie Dye Week) July 15-19, 2013
Grade Range: 7 - 10

The music and times of the Fab Four will be our inspiration this week. We’ll tie dye t-shirts, learn some dance moves from the 1960s, create colorful pop art, sing Beatles songs, and lots more.

Special Camp Performance This Week:
Beatle Mania Concert - Wednesday, July 17, 1:00pm

We’ll “rock out” to a special Beatle Mania mini-concert by the Beatles Ensemble from the Winchester Community Music School.  The WCMS Beatles ensemble
is made up of kids and adults who love to perform Beatles music. We'll sing and play some Beatles favorites, some with Beatles style 4-part harmonies and share some good Beatles lore with our fans.

Friends and families are invited to attend the performance - $5 admission per person, at the door.

Explore the art and music of Africa – from colorful masks, to safari animals of the wild, to energetic drum and dance, we’ll set out on an African Adventure this week, including a special guest performance of African drumming.

Get energized by the power and rhythms of West Africa in this special drum and dance performance by  Fanta and Alan Keita Tauber!  A native of Guinea, West Africa, Fanta is an inspired dancer and drummer.  Fanta will be accompanied on drums by Alan Keita Tauber, who has been teaching and performing African drumming for more than 30 years, and who leads yearly music & culture trips to Guinea. Friends and families are invited to attend the performance - $5 admission per person, at the door.

Join us on a journey to meet funny and interesting characters through Fairy Tales!  We’ll draw and paint silly ogres, wacky witches, and exasperating enchanted animals. Through movement and drama, we’ll mash stories together to make us giggle.

Week 08: (CIT) Inspired by India August 12-16, 2013

Join us as we draw inspiration from India’s people, ancient temples, the Ganges River and more!  Explore the rich and colorful crafts and traditions of India through art, music, dance, and drama.  We’ll make henna hand prints, colorful puppets and more.

Traditional Kathak Dance with Shelly Chhabra

Thrill to the rhythmic footfalls and jangling ankle bells of Kathak dance in this performance by Shelley Chhabra of the Chhandika School of Traditional Indian Dance.  You’ll be caught up in the rich colors and texture of this ancient storytelling art form from Northern India.

Friends and family are invited to attend the performance, $5 admission per person.

Did you ever wish you could wander into the wacky world of Dr. Seuss?  From The Cat in the Hat to Horton Hears a Who, join us as we create fun Dr. Seuss-inspired art projects, paintings, and sculptures.  We’ll sing songs and act out stories from our favorite Dr. Seuss stories, too! 

Special Camp Performance by FAQ Circus

Prepare to be amazed and inspired by the Suess-esque antics of the  FAQ Circus ensemble.  This dynamic group of young circus arts performers will delight with their feats of derring-do inspired by traditional and contemporary styles of circus – Dr. Seuss would surely approve!

Finish the summer with week of BIG fun!  Whales, giants, hot air balloons and more -- this week we’ll be thinking BIG! Using paint, paper mache, and cardboard, we’ll make art about the very large. We’ll act out super-sized stories too!
