Level 1, 2, and 3 Group Swim Lessons

Description

Level 1: This level focuses on the most basic skills of learning how to swim and feeling comfortable in the water.


front and back floats and glides
submerge whole head
bobbing
open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects
combined arm and leg actions on front and back
tread water using arm and hand actions
recover to vertical position

Level 2: This level enables children to gain greater independence in the water by achieving success with fundamental skills.

read water, using arm and leg motions
gliding on front and back for 5 yards
freestyle
back crawl
turning over from front to back and back to front
jumping into water without being caught
floating on front and back on own
submerge entire head for 3 seconds
blow bubbles submerging head in a rhythmic pattern

Level 3: This level is a continuation of building on skills learned in level 2 and gaining comfort in greater water depths

jumping into deep water from the side
perform rotary breathing with the body in a horizontal position
gliding off wall
freestyle
back stroke
elementary backstroke kick
retrieving objects from underwater
treading water on own
kneeling dive
butterfly – kick and body motion
