OCDI

Intended Audience:  EIU Faculty and anyone teaching a course for EIU

The Online Course Development Institute (OCDI) was established to provide faculty at Eastern Illinois University a professional development opportunity to experience best practices in online teaching and guidance in quality online course development.  The OCDI is intended for EIU faculty interested in developing an online course or redesigning an online course.

The goal is to provide faculty with suggested guidelines and training necessary to develop a quality online course which will enhance the online teaching and learning experiences of both faculty and students and encourage effective engagement and collaboration in the online environment.

After successful completion of the OCDI, the participant will have met the university requirement for teaching technology-delivered courses.

The OCDI is now a self-directed training series.  The participants can begin the training at any time throughout the year and complete the training at their convenience.

All training is delivered online with no synchronous or live sessions required.   Because the OCDI is self-directed training, registration may occur at any time throughout the year.  The participant may complete the training at any time during the year and submit an online course upon completion.  Peer reviews of courses submitted will occur at the end of each semester.

Self-registration is now available for the OCDI through Desire2Learn.
