In this 4-day workshop, explore the unique qualities of creating Portraits in Watercolor!

As a medium that allows only for a few corrections, the basis of watercolor must be understood!

In this class, students will learn how to connect shapes rather than drawing separate objects, achieve life-like flesh tones and hair color, and avoid overworking.

The key is to learn how to allow accidents without losing control, permitting the medium to express itself and create images that are spontaneous and alive. The goal is to gain trust and obtain definitive results in the watercolor technique.

Head anatomy will be an important part of the workshop. Students will learn a series of lessons, revolving around drawing the head from head casts, pictures, self portraits and live models. This foundation will bring solidity and structure for the application of watercolor, slowly revealing the complexities and beauty of the portrait form.

There will be daily lectures, demonstrations, exercises, and one-on-one guidance to find each student’s own style.

Students will also experience great fun in the process of painting each other's portrait!
