Always wanted to paint in watercolor but afraid to try? Approach the art of watercolor one step at a time with a series of skill-building exercises. Understand the building blocks of watercolor: the wash, how light works, brush techniques, and the use of value to create volume.

Watercolor Supply List:

Supply list is basic; student brands are fine for beginner classes (Canson, Winsor and Newton, or Bienfang are best).

Basic set of watercolors in cakes/ or pan

White plastic watercolor palette with wells

Papers:

Basic pad of watercolor Canson brand paper (12 x 18) or Bienfang 140 lb. hot press

Small sketchbook 9 x 12

Brushes:

2 inch wash brush

1 inch flat brush

3/4 inch oval brush

#1 mop brush

#10 round brush

#12 round brush
