Ancient Pathways is for people who realize that our gatherer-hunter past is still alive within us. For hundreds of thousands of years, our ancestors lived directly with the land, and our ancient instincts are still present, though covered by a thin veneer of modern sophistication.

Re-learning our connection with the land and the fascinating skills necessary to meet our needs: • Teaches us how to satisfy our needs and builds confidence. • Teaches the value of cooperation. • Teaches an indigenous perspective on our modern choices as we learn ancient wisdom. • Makes camping and hiking more fun. • Answers the question of “What if I got lost or hurt and needed to spend the night in the woods?” • Will open your awareness and sense of gratitude in ways you can’t yet imagine!

We will learn to: • Make fire by rubbing sticks together. • Identify and use wild food and medicine plants. • Build a waterproof shelter using only natural materials. • Make rope and string from plants. • Track, stalk and move silently with expanded awareness. • Set primitive deadfall traps and snares (vegetarians may set traps to catch tofu). • Navigate without a compass. • Deepen our knowledge of ourselves and our connection with the land and people. • Practice indigenous wisdom as we "seek what they sought."

Instructor: Chris Morasky has been teaching ancient skills for over 25 years, and he is recognized as one of the foremost instructors in North America. Chris lived in a tipi for 6 years, was attacked by a moose and a bear, and has spent time learning from Lakota, Blackfeet, Shoshone, Arapahoe, and Serri tribes. Chris has also led totally Stone Age trips into the wilderness wearing buckskin clothing, carrying a handmade bow and stone pointed arrows, and with a willow packbasket on his back.
