According to statistics gathered by GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network), ten percent of the population is gay, bisexual, or transgender. When a child senses that they are not accepted by their peers, they often seek the advice of someone they can talk to in a confidential setting. This course is imperative as it will enable any counselor or educator to be a reliable source for those youth who feel marginalized due to their sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.

This class will meet completely on ZOOM~

Class meeting dates are as follows:

Week 1: Tuesday, Dec 8 - Thursday, December 10 from 4-9 pm

Week 2: Monday, December 14 -Friday, December18 from 4-9 pm

The last Friday of class will be used for independent assignments and coursework completion.

VERY IMPORTANT - Course Materials: Students are required to order their own textbook. Please see for information on ordering. Locate your course and you will see your textbook listed.

The College of Saint Rose will award you three (3) semester hours of graduate credit for successfully completing this course. All Participants must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree to receive credit from The College of Saint Rose. You will receive a letter grade.

Registration Forms: Will be given in class.

FERPA Policy

The College of Saint Rose requires all students to  complete a FERPA form (even if you are not authorizing anyone to view your records). This form will allow you to set up a password which will be required for verification whenever you are communicating with The College.

The College of Saint Rose Students: NYSED requirements prohibit students from exceeding 12 credits during any SUMMER semester and 15 credits for each of the SPRING or FALL semesters through The College of Saint Rose.  It is the student's responsibility to keep track of the hours taken by semester.

Course requirements include: Participation, attendance, reading assignments, written assignments, projects and/or final exams; however, requirements may vary for each course.

*$50 Deposit is non-refundable. *Cancellations must be received two weeks prior to course start date to avoid a $50 cancellation fee (Not to be confused with the Deposit). *No refunds after the class start date. *Course fee must be paid in full 2 weeks prior to the start date to avoid a $20 late payment fee.

Please allow 6 to 8 weeks after course end date for transcripts to arrive. Although it rarely takes this long, there are peak volume times throughout the year during which this could be the case.
