We are in a global Elder Boom!  In the U.S., the population aged 65 years includes more than 46 million persons, and, by the year 2060, will be more than 98 million.  This aging population is distinctly diverse with unique psychosocial and care needs, including an even greater number of people striving to age successfully in their communities.  Overall, life expectancies are increasing, the gender gap in longevity is decreasing, and poverty in later life is reducing.  However, wide economic disparities persist, health challenges are significant, and public policy challenges are substantial.
Health and mental health professionals must increase their expertise for working with our diverse aging populations.  During these interactive and dynamic trainings, attendees will gain requisite knowledge to prepare for working with our aging populations.  Each day of training is designed to be a stand-alone module.  Together, the two days complement each other and provide both a cohesive training that meets the needs of state licensure requirements.

  1. An increased understanding of public policy opportunities and challenges related to aging successfully.
  2. An increased understanding of psychosocial intervention challenges and opportunities related to aging successfully.
  3. An increased knowledge of assessment of diverse aging-related challenges and threats for successful aging, including reconciliation of past challenges.
  4. A deep awareness of clinical challenges and opportunities for working with our diverse aging populations.
  5. An enhanced biopsychosocial knowledge of healthy aging, including exercise, health promotion, nutrition, caregiving, and more.
