Being able to intentionally evoke the relaxation response is one of the most beneficial things we can do to support our own wellbeing.  Especially in these politically challenging and distressing times, self-care skills are essential to maintaining our balance.  So how do we learn to take better care of ourselves?  In this training, we will discover why the stress response just happens, while the relaxation response needs to be cultivated.  We’ll deeply explore engaging the relaxation response, to help us cultivate resilience at the level of the nervous system.  We will engage in a variety of movement and mindfulness practices to support integration and well-being, and learn how to tailor these awareness practices to the present moment state of our nervous system, increasing their effectiveness in supporting our internal equilibrium.  In addition, we will learn about the neurobiology of habit formation, and practice tools for developing new habits.  We’ll also explore core beliefs around self-care, and develop a concrete self-care plan.  This training is highly experiential, and you should leave feeling significantly better than when you started, empowered with tools to support lasting change in you and those you serve.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

 

1. Participants will apply their knowledge of the physiology of the stress response and relaxation response to develop a customized self-care plan based on their understanding of their own unique workplace stressors.

2. Participants will be able to explain why evoking the relaxation response is of heightened importance in our modern-day living situations.

3. Participants will practice 3 strategies for evoking the relaxation response in response to a variety of stressors.

4. Participants will identify 4 key steps to designing and implementing new self-care habits.



Additional Information

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start time to assure registration for the course. Attendees arriving after the start of the training time may lose registration position, and may not be allowed in due to wait list and need for prompt start time. Please cancel in advance if you cannot attend as frequent "no shows" may result in an inability to register for future training.
