The Office of Adult Education's Tutor Now: Technology Skills, will equip you with tools, skills, and resources to support adults who wish to increase their technology skills. This training is designed with the principles of adult learning theory and technological instruction to suit a wide variety of learners.

 In addition, you will be able to:

  • Comprehend the barriers to digital inclusion and the wide variety of learners served in Philadelphia 
  • Understand and Apply adult learning theory and learner-centered strategies to motivate learners
  • Demonstrate how to locate and access information and resources using technology

This is a two-week online course that follows an asynchronous instructor-facilitated, cohort-based model.

NOTE: The Office of Adult Education reserves the right to cancel a Tutor Training class when the minimum capacity (8) has not been reached.



Additional Information

Tutor Training REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS 
Volunteers interested in participating in the Technology Skills Office of Adult Education Tutor Training program must agree to the following:

•4 months of tutoring commitment (2 to 3 hours per week)
•Be at least 18 years old
•Have at least a high school diploma or a High School Equivalency Diploma (GED© or HiSET©). Some college and/or previous training is a plus. 
•Have basic computer and Internet skills, with access to a reliable computer and Internet
•Must register for the training 
•Must attend and complete every part of the training including the online portion
•Arrive to training on time or be no more than 30 MINUTES LATE
•For referrals to some providers, a Bachelor’s Degree may be required.
•If a training is missed, or a significant training content is missed due to lateness, early departure, or any other reason, an “incomplete” grade will be issued 

Canvas Integration: This class is online – volunteers are required to complete work online, through our virtual classroom on CANVAS©
