A film’s musical score gives life, emotion and drama to the pictures we see on screen. This class invites students to watch and examine four films: The Mission, E.T., Vertigo, and The Shawshank Redemption. Each film takes a very different approach to using music as a part of the storytelling process. Background on the film and its music will precede each screening, and a discussion and analysis of each film’s music will follow.
