Nursing Assistant

Description

This program is state-certified and provides students with the skills needed to work in a variety of medical settings. Topics include physical and emotional care of patients, vital signs, communication skills, handling of stress, safety issues, and the aging process.

The course consists of classroom instruction, followed by practice in a nursing lab. In order to apply these skills in a clinical setting, approximately 24 hours will be spent in a nursing home under the supervision of the instructor. Clinical hours will be extended from 4:00 - 9:00 pm. There is one Saturday full day clinical session from 7:30 am - 3:00 pm.

Minuteman's course also includes BLS CPR/AED Certifications. The additional certification will make Minuteman's Nursing Assistant graduates ready for employment.

Applicants will be required to interview, complete CORI/SORI background checks, and complete the Reading and Math portions of the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education). Additionally, all students will need to get a TB test and provide proof it is negative. Please contact us to schedule an appointment.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will take the Red Cross Nursing Assistant Certification. Students must meet minimum attendance requirements (paid for separately)

This program is offered three times per year, beginning in mid-September, mid-January, and June.

There is a $75.00 materials fee that will go towards the nursing assistant uniform.
