Flute 2

The prerequisite for this class is some experience playing flute in an ensemble.

In the beginning flute class, we looked at the basics of assembling and holding the flute, forming the embouchure, and getting correct hand position. We worked out of the Book Flute Student 1. We will continue in this 10-week class to refine all those elements but we will learn the harder material and begin memorizing scales and arpeggios the building blocks of music.  Just like Beginning Flute, I insist we have fun along the way.

Here is your chance to learn to improvise melodies on the Blues Form. We talk about chord types, analyzing song forms and ways to get more abilities to play different rhythms and scales over chords. But most of all we have fun.

Last semester we played Kansas City, Venus, Summertime, Coming Home baby and other Blues Forms.Next year might even get into easy jazz songs like Blue Bossa or I got Rhythm Changes (the Flintstones).  Let's have fun!
