Beginners Intro to Woodworking Machines

This class focuses on using woodworking machines and processes to manufacture two useful and decorative wood projects – a covered “keep box” and a footstool. Most of the work is done with machines and portable power tools, with a small amount of it being accomplished with hand tools.

We have a goal of two complete projects at the end of the term, but the first goal we must fulfill is FUN!! Safety is important and is required for use of machines, so all students MUST ATTEND FIRST CLASS. Please, no advanced woodworkers in this class. NOTE: A $15 lab fee is included in the registration fee to cover machine maintenance. Please bring a pencil, paper, goggles, ear protection, and closed shoes to each class.

The fee does not include non-refundable $20 cash materials fee payable to instructor at first class.

The game has a poker-like risk assessment and play of the hand chess-like strategies. You will become confident with basic bidding, play of the hand, and scoring. Emphasis will be on practicing using computer programs and live action at a card table. You will become comfortable playing online, in social games and playing beginner level club duplicate games. Woodworking for Experienced Folk

Most students in this class will have taken the beginner course for woodworkers, but others who have knowledge and experience with woodworking machines, tools and processes are welcome to enroll, too. It is important to be aware of the proper safety procedures and safe operation of power equipment; therefore, all students MUST ATTEND FIRST CLASS. Available machines include table saws, radial arm saw, sliding compound miter saw, band saw, jointer, planer, lathe, and many portable power tools.

Bring some good plans for your project, eye and ear protection, pencil, paper and closed shoes. The registration fee you pay includes $15 to cover machine maintenance by the school district. For the most part, you will need to supply your own lumber - teacher will have glue, sandpaper, and some screws and finishes.

Fee does not include non-refundable $10 cash materials fee payable to instructor at first class.
