Bookbinding: Exposed Spine Bindings
Exposed Spine Bindings are a lovely way to showcase your hand sewn books.  Multi-signature bindings Coptic Stitch, French Link Stitch and Long Stitch will be the subject of this two evening course.  Students will come away with four completed books.  There is a $20.00 materials fee payable to the instructor.  See supplies list on website.

Classic Illustration
Learn the craftsmanship of the Golden Age of Children's Book Illustration:  watercolor over line drawing.  In the first half of the semester, students study techniques by copying the masterpieces of prominent artists such as Jessie Wilcox Smith, Arthur Rackham, Dulac, etc.  Students are encouraged to explore personal interests of illustration or watercolor the rest of the semester.  Advanced students can work on their own stories.

The Joy of Drawing and Watercolor
Drawing is fundamental to representational painting.  During this course, students will learn about techniques and principals of design, perspective, composition and color theory.  Students have the option to do only drawing, or watercolor, or both during he quarter.  Bring you materials (you can find the list on the website), reference photos, (landscapes, water scenes, cityscapes, portraits, etc.) and favorite objects.  We will discuss details in the first class.
