Woodworking Project: A Wooden Box
This 2-session class offers the developing woodworker the opportunity to expand upon skills learned in Woodworking 1 by building a small box (about 5" wide x x 8" long x 3.5"  high) with spline-reinforced, mitered corners.  Students will have the choice of various exotic (and jaw-dropping gorgeous) woods from which to build the box and top.  Your box will be the envy of your family and friends and perfect for holiday gift-giving, if you dare part with them!  New skills covered in this class are cutting grooves on the ripping table saw, mitered corners on the crosscut tables saw, rabbets on the router, box clamping, and spines.  No textwookd required.  There will be a $40 materials fee payble to the instructor to cover the cost of wood.

Woodworking Project: End Grain Cutting Board
In this 3-session project class, students will build a 10"x16"x1" end-grain cutting board.  In the first class, we will mill boards to specific thickness, rip to a common width and glue up into a "blank".  In the second class, we will mill the glued-up blank to a rectangular block, and then rip that block to strips. flip and rotate each strip and then glue up again.  In the final class, we'll take the glue-up, mill it back to a rectangular block, sand, round-over, oil and declare victory!  Students will design the pattern of their cutting board themselves.  No textbook required.  There will be a $50 materials fee payable to the instructor to cover the cost of wood.
