Winemaker's dinner

This series is focusing on the men behind the labels. Our interactives dinners are hosted by winemakers from around the world who comes to share their unique stories, their passion and their understanding of this gift from mother nature.

“Vignerons greatest challenge is to do as little as possible, to get out of the way of the metaphysical, leaving the terroir to nurture and birth the fruit. They are merely akin to the midwife who facilitate the delivery”
Maximillian Potter

On the cusp of the noble wine regions of Priorat and Montsant, Celler de Capcanes offers an alluring dimension of Caltalan wine making.

Begun as a co-operative in the 1930s when five families got together to vinify all the wine of this Priorat-area village, the Celler de Capcanes drew the attention of the wine world about two decades ago, in producing singular old vines Grenache, and wines from typically French varietals including Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

With an exceptional terroir ranging from 150m to 600m above sea level, with highly concentrated deposits of granite, slate, and clay, two dozen winegrowers work this bounty of nature, and their fruit of exceptional quality and fidelity to the soil is vinified by a very talented winemaking team consisting of Angel Teixido, Jürgen Wagner, and Anna Rovira.
