Knitting: Learn To Knit and Beyond!

This creative and fun filled workshop begins with essential lessons for new and experienced knitters: choosing supplies, casting on, knitting, purling and binding off. Learn how to increase, decrease, make a buttonhole, knit lace, cable, knit in the round and read patterns. Participants will discover a host of useful techniques that makes knitting both exciting and enjoyable. Workshop fee includes yarn and needles to get started.

Raku Pottery

In this workshop, participants will focus on the development of pottery forms using glazing and firing techniques known in Japan as Raku. The history of Raku will be covered, as well as the contemporary development of Raku pottery in the United States. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn techniques of design, glaze application, and kiln loading and firing. Participants will also learn alternative kiln and firing techniques to produce Raku pottery creations. All levels welcome, no clay experience necessary. Participants ages 14 years and older are welcome.

Rock Ensemble

Limited, audition only workshop for the advanced musician. Learn how to play at a higher level in a group setting. Music will be pre-determined by the facilitator. Focus is on musician interaction in professionally produced setting. Live performance will take place at the end of the workshop.

Ukulele: Learn to Play

The wildly popular Ukulele is considered the easiest stringed instrument to learn to play.  This workshop is designed to teach the basics and equip you to be comfortable in a group setting such as a ukulele club. Enjoy this beautiful sounding instrument, while learning some of your favorite popular songs. In this workshop series, participants will learn basic right and left hand techniques with an emphasis on strumming patterns, proper playing positions, and common chord progressions. Ukuleles are available for purchase through the facilitator.

Vintage Longboard Skis

Design and construct a pair of 1850's style ski for use in vintage ski race contests. Workshop will look at history and technology of California Gold Era ski racing and Snowshoe Thompson's telemark Norwegian style.

Wood Carving

This six-week workshop introduces participants to the basics of traditional woodcarving using a knife. Participants learn how to carve a basic walking stick using different techniques and your own creative imagination.   Carving knife, apron and safety gloves are provided.  Homework will be assigned in order to complete your handiwork.  Bring a stick 6 feet long and 1-3 inches round or blank walking sticks will be available for purchase.
