Basic Bicycle Maintenance and Repair

This informative course is designed for bike riders interested in learning basic bicycle maintenance and repair.  Students will learn the importance of cleaning, securing, and lubricating key components.  The workshop will also teach you how to repair flat tires, fix broken chains, and adjust brakes and shift systems. The topics covered in this session will get enthusiastic riders prepped to tackle any adventure for the upcoming bike season.

Fly Fishing

This workshop introduces the basic skills and concepts of fly fishing. Learn how to fly cast, read water, and tie knots.  Participants will also learn about stream entomology, catch and release technique, and fly selection. Saturday will be in the classroom, Sunday will be on the rivers. Fly rods and reels will be provided, boot and waders available for rent. Ages 12+ welcome.

Fundamentals of Wilderness First Aid

This 2-day workshop covers the basic principles of patient care in the remote setting including patient assessment, circulatory, respiratory, and nervous systems, musculoskeletal system, fractures, and extremity splinting techniques. Other topics include: lightning injuries, heat and cold injuries including Hypothermia and Heat Stroke. Assessment drills will be emphasized to maximize hands-on learning. Basic lifting, moving, and extrication techniques will be taught and practiced. Gain confidence in your ability to respond to emergencies in the backcountry in this short course that will challenge your thinking and give you decision making skills and practice. This workshop is intended for those who are outdoor enthusiasts on day trips or short adventures.

Motorcycle Safety Training

The California Motorcyclist Safety Program Motorcyclist Training Course (CMSP MTC) is designed for the novice rider with no (or limited) street-riding experience. This course includes both classroom and on-cycle instruction. You will learn fundamental skills required to operate the motorcycle and progress to street riding skills and strategies. Topics covered include fear, understanding how motorcycles turn, proper cornering strategies, and emergency crash avoidance skills. The course is based on the most current research in rider safety and utilizes modern training methods. Upon successful completion of the CMSP Motorcyclist Training Course students will receive a DMV DL389 certificate that may waive the riding skills test requirement at the DMV. If you haven't completed the written DMV test you must pass it prior to receiving your license endorsement. Although this is designed for new riders, any rider that has not taken a motorcycle course will benefit from this workshop.  Proper gear required, motorcycle will be provided.   (DOT helmet, eye protection, long sleeves, long sturdy pants, full-fingered gloves and sturdy over the ankle boots). Basic bicycle riding skills are required.

Ukulele: Learn to Play

The wildly popular Ukulele is considered the easiest stringed instrument to learn to play.  This workshop is designed to teach the basics and equip you to be comfortable in a group setting such as a ukulele club. Enjoy this beautiful sounding instrument, while learning some of your favorite popular songs. In this workshop series, participants will learn basic right and left hand techniques with an emphasis on strumming patterns, proper playing positions, and common chord progressions. Ukuleles are available for purchase through the facilitator.
