Disaster Site Worker Trainer Course - OSHA 5600

Course Description:  

This course prepares experienced Outreach Training Program trainers to present OSHA 7.5-hr and 15-hr Site Worker Courses, intended for second responders (those arriving hours or days after the event).

Students are provided the opportunity to practice knowledge and skills through discussion, planned exercises, demonstrations, and presentations. Lesson plans and training materials are provided.

Students must prepare a presentation on an assigned disaster site worker topic. Successful completion of this course authorizes students to become trainers in the Disaster Site Worker Outreach Training Program and to issue cards to participants after verifying course completion.

Learn to:

  • Describe the purpose and use of an Incident Command System
  • Recognize disaster site health and safety hazards
  • Recognize and demonstrate proper use of respiratory protection equipment
  • Identify required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Describe methods of decontamination

Trainer Course for the Maritime Industry - OSHA 5400

Course Description: For those who are interested in teaching the 10-hour and 30-hour maritime safety and health outreach classes to employees and other interested groups. Course participants learn effective instructional approaches and the successful use of visual aids and handouts. This course authorizes the student to become a trainer in the Maritime Outreach Trainer Program and to conduct both 10- and 30-hour maritime safety and health courses for shipyard employment, marine terminals, and longshoring, and to issue cards to participants verifying course completion.

Students in this course must prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA maritime outreach topic and successfully pass an exam at the end of the course to become an authorized outreach trainer.

It is highly recommended that a laptop is brought to class to work on developing presentations.

Trainer Course in Permit-Required Confined Space Entry - OTC 403

Course Description: This course is designed for those who are interested in teaching a permit-required confined space awareness-level course to employees and other interested groups. Course participants learn application of standards, as well as effective instructional approaches and the successful use of visual aids and handouts.

This Trainer Course in Permit-Required Confined Spaces is recommended for inspectors, auditors, safety and health professionals and those personnel responsible for writing, auditing or training employees with an active role in permit space entry.

Objectives:

  • Describe Adult Learning Needs

  • Prepare and deliver a presentation using effective delivery techniques

  • Discuss the requirements and interpretations for permit-required confined space entry

  • Discuss the general training requirements of the permit space standard

  • Effectively conduct permit space training in accordance with the OSHA's Permit-Required Confined Space standard 29 CFR 1910.146

Additional Information:

Attendees must prepare a presentation and successfully pass a written test at the end of the course. It is highly recommended that you bring a laptop to class to work on developing your presentations.

Prerequisites:

Attendees must have taken the OSHA #2264 Permit-Required Confined Space Entry within the past 12 months.

Training Techniques for the Safety Professional - OTC 302

Course description:

This 2-day class is for both the new and the experienced trainer who wants to learn new teaching skills. It focuses on topics such as effective instruction and presentation techniques, curriculum design, adult learning theory, and coaching skills. Our goal is to take the safety subject matter expert, and provide them with additional tools that they can use to deliver training content to workers in a way that makes it fun to learn.

Topics include:

  • Creating a positive learning environment
  • New ways to motivate learners
  • Best and worst training experiences
  • Dealing with difficult participants

Participants will have time to practice the skills being addressed. It is strongly recommended that attendees bring a laptop to class. If you are unable to do so, please contact us to make other arrangements.

Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers - OSHA 503

A refresher course for those who have completed the OSHA #501 General Industry Outreach Trainer  course and who are authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program. It provides an update on such topics as OSHA general industry standards, policies, and regulations.

Students in OSHA #503 must prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA general industry outreach topic at the end of the course to renew authorization status.

It is highly recommended that a laptop is brought to class to work on developing presentations.

    Prerequisites: OSHA #501 Trainer Course for General Industry
