Chair Qigong

A powerful Qigong exercise developed to benefit those who cannot stand for an extended period of time. The exercises are specifically designed to restore youthful vigor, energy and overall well-being. Studies have shown that practicing Qigong increases the level of neurotransmitters in the blood. Deficiency of these elements can lead to Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, chronic depression and insomnia.  Qigong can also increase range of motion, ease Arthritis pain, lower blood pressure and build a stronger immune system. All exercises will be done in a chair.

Change Your Diet, Change Your Life
By carefully choosing the foods and drinks that we put into our bodies, we can create a well-balanced system that will be strong enough to stay healthy and fight off infections and disease. But with all of the hype surrounding different diets, food combining, eating for your blood type and pH, it's easy to get confused.  Add to that, the genetic modification of our foods, additives, preservatives, pesticides, herbicides, sugar, artificial sweeteners and other toxins, knowing what is healthy and what is not definitely isn’t easy. In this talk we simplify all the hype and cut through to the core “ingredients” to a healthy diet.  Don’t miss this one, it could change your life!  (1 session)

Healing From the Inside Out

Finally, today much of the medical community is coming to realize that indeed “we are what we think”.  This means that our thoughts are a major influence on our physical bodies.  Doctors treat symptoms, and that is important, but why the symptom should be our question.  Our bodies are reflecting our minds, often our subconscious minds, which can make understanding the reason for our symptoms a challenge at times.  We are not saying that environment and genes don’t have a role to play, because they do, but we can often be guilty of self-defeating talk that is not only unhelpful, but also may be damaging to our bodies.    Join Shirley Mahood, author and international speaker, in a conversation about learning to heal by asking what are our symptoms are telling us.

Instructor: Shirley Mahood has been a teacher of English and public speaking in the United States and England. She has been presenting classes, retreats, and workshops based on her book, Making Our Lives Work: Strategies to Lessen Stress and Build Self-Esteem.  Her audiences have included community groups, professional associations, colleges and universities.
