Marimba Lessons

Instructors

Marimba

A cousin of the xylophone, the marimba is distinguished by its wooden bars and often by the use of resonating tubes or gourds. This instrument traces its origins to Africa and was further developed in Central America. In addition to the various indigenous musics of those cultures, the marimba is often found in modern orchestral music and jazz ensembles. Students learn mallet technique, rhythms, and various styles of music.
