This session will cover two main topic areas in the Adult ESL classroom: teaching reading and teaching pronunciation.  Participants will come away from this interactive workshop with ideas for activities they can immediately implement with their adult ESL learners to support development in reading and pronunciation.  The workshop will address questions such as: What reading skills can I teach my adult ESL learners, and how do I incorporate them into a lesson in an engaging way?  How can I use authentic materials to teach reading to all levels of ESL learners?  How can I help my adult ESL learners set reasonable goals related to pronunciation?  What strategies can I use to help learners improve their pronunciation?  Participants will be engaged in a series of collaborative activities to build their own knowledge around best practices related to reading and pronunciation instruction as well as in creating learner-centered activities in these areas.
