Tutor Now: GED® / HiSET® Prep  provides volunteers with the knowledge, tools, skills, and resources to support adult learners who are working at a 9th grade + level.   Volunteers will learn tactics to help prepare students to take standardized tests like the GED® or HiSET® in order to obtain a Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma. 

This training is completed over a three-week period.
Completion of all components is required to receive the Office of Education's Certificate of Completion.  

* Tutor Now:Fundamentals of Adult Learning is a prerequisite for this training. Volunteers must attend all sessions in order to complete training and receive a certificate

NOTE: The Office of adult Education reserves the right to cancel a Tutor Training class when the minimum capacity (8) has not been reached.



Additional Information

Tutor Training REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS 
Volunteers interested in participating in the Office of Adult Education Tutor Training program must agree to the following:

•6 months of tutoring commitment (2 to 3 hours per week)
•Be at least 18 years old
•Have at least a high school diploma or a High School Equivalency Diploma (GED© or HiSET©). Some college and/or previous training is a plus. 
•Have basic computer and Internet skills, with access to a reliable computer and Internet
•Must register for the training 
•Must complete every part of the training
•For referrals to some providers, a Bachelor’s Degree may be required.
•If a training is missed, or a significant training content is missed due to lateness, early departure, or any other reason, an “incomplete” grade will be issued 

Canvas Integration: This class is online –  Volunteers are required to complete work online, through our virtual classroom on CANVAS©
